If you are thinking of spending your vacation in the Bahamas, the best time to stress about anything is during the planning stages of the trip. If you are not from the US, you may want to check with The Bahamas to see if the country you are from is allowed to enter their island countries. There are some countries and their people that will not allow crossing their borders.
It is also important that you make sure to check your travel dates. The weather in the Bahamas is usually very pleasant and moderately warm which is particularly good for walking, boating, swimming and hiking as well as snorkeling and diving. But be aware that during the months of September and October, it is considered the height of hurricane season and you can end up facing heavy rains that last for days on end and often some serious flooding and evacuations are also common. Although visiting the islands is a lot cheaper in these months, you can see how the weather can be a challenge for your trip.
The months when most tourists come to the islands are the months from November to April. This is of course the time when the big crowds will show up and if you are not into all the people and noise you may not really want to come during these months. So, if hurricane season has put you off and peak season is just too much for you, you can try to schedule a trip during the months of May to August. This will be a quieter time of year but you can still expect a lot more rain than you would during the peak months. Also a lot of attractions may be closed during this time of year. But if you just want a vacation in paradise, these might be the perfect months for you.
Some other tips that you may want to be aware of would be for example, no matter how good your water is, it is recommended to stick to bottled water. Everyone treats their water differently and may not agree with you even if the water is clean. You should also be aware that with any food or beverage you purchase, an automatic 15 percent gratuity is added. So you don’t have to worry about tipping when eating out because it’s already included in the price.
